Hana Gao

Hana Gao (she/her), a Development Associate in Advance Collaborative’s Generalist Department, brings a strong background in development operations, donor relations, communications, and creative strategy to her work. Prior to joining Advance Collaborative, Hana was on staff at The New Press, where she supported fundraising and donor engagement for a publishing house dedicated to social justice, literature, and progressive cultural discourse. She began her career in development at TRANScend Choral Community and Music Foundation, a trans and gender-expansive choir in New York City, where she remains an active member of the chamber ensemble. 

Hana holds a degree in English and Creative Writing from Wellesley College and is passionate about the power of the arts to build community, amplify marginalized voices, and drive social change. Outside of work, she loves to cook, embroider, and tease her cats with her husband, Victor.
